WIMA SCHOOL, NAKIVALE REFUGEE SETTLEMENT
WIMA SCHOOL aims to provide quality French based education to displaced children and youth from Rwanda, Burundi, and Congo currently living in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District of southwest Uganda. We believe this project will be hugely impactful to the future of the children, youth and their families. We also estimate that 10% of them will be resettled in Canada. Therefore, the immersive program is also essential to successful integration into this country.
in 2017, the Masinda family, who currently live in Canada and are originally from Congo, started fundraising in memory of their late father’s legacy with the intention of building primary and secondary schools within the refugee camp. That same year, 6 classes for elementary school were constructed at a total cost of US$11,678.00 including desks and school supplies. Since then, the family has provided education to 300 kids each year! They also donate monthly honorariums to 6 teachers and supporting staff (1 secretary and 1 janitor).
The current goal is to raise approximately US$13,000.00 toward building the 6 high school classrooms while also establishing a small business to support the school’s sustainability.
WIMA SCHOOL therefore invites you to a partner with them in this transformative project. Your contribution can be submitted via the donation link below.
