We are excited to announce that our fully funded “Drive Forward” Commercial Transport Licensing Program (STE) – is now accepting new applications from suitable trainee candidates.
GOAL
The program is part of a 2.5-year broad scope Licensing Program intended for those facing multiple barriers to employment. It is particularly beneficial to those with limited Canadian work experience.
Our ambition is to provide free training for up to 60 multi-barrier residents of BC enabling them to find secure long term work in the transport industry. The program will include forklift and dispatch operations, Class 1, 2, 3 & 4 driver licensing and may consider other areas as defined by employment market needs.
For our first cohort, the program will provide qualified participants with a strong foundation for employment via free Counterbalanced Sit-Down Forklift Operations, and Dispatch Operations licensing benefitting 10 and 5 candidates respectively.
Participants will also receive job search skills training to include resume preparation and interview skills as well as support to access work exposure and ultimately long term employment.
SPONSORSHIP
The program is fully sponsored by the Federal Government of Canada through the Canada-British Columbia Workforce Development Agreement.
TRAINING DELIVERY
Delivery is led by Umoja Operation in strategic partnership with Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS). The training will be carried out by an assortment of highly respected training providers.
